Chiltern Society upcoming events and activities

The Chiltern Society have a wide range of fantastic events and activities to help you explore the beautiful Chilterns. From skill building workshops and night time glow worm walks, to family bushcraft days, afternoons on the farm and even visits to local breweries.

Storytelling in the Woods (Morning & Afternoon Sessions)

This event is taking place on August 2 at Bottom Wood, Near Stokenchurch, Bucks HP14 3XD.

Join us for a morning or afternoon at our famous ancient woodland, Bottom Wood, with renowned children's storyteller Jane Lambourne. The event will begin with a walk to our beautiful woodland clearing where you can sit on logs and enjoy the stunning natural environment around you. The children will then settle down to hear Jane's very own tales from the trees, folk tales and animal stories before enjoying a nature-based scavenger hunt and a picnic lunch (which you'll bring with you).

Teddy Bears' Picnic

This event is taking place on August 6 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Captain's Wood, Chesham, Bucks HP5 2XJ.


Bring your favourite teddy bear along for a morning of outdoor fun where you'll be immersed in nature at our ancient woodland site, Captain's Wood near Chesham. See if you can spot the teddies hiding in the wood, hunt for minibeasts, make a salad for your teddy from thing's you'll pick from the wood and build a den for him to snooze in while you enjoy your own picnic on this pretty site.

Pond Dipping

This event is taking place on August 15 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Funges Meadow Nature Reserve, Bassetsbury Lane, High Wycombe HP11 1QX.


Meet in the Rye car park, off Bassetsbury Lane in High Wycombe for an afternoon dipping for creatures of the deep at Chiltern Rangers' Funges Meadow Nature Reserve which is not usually open to the public. You'll also be getting stuck in with some arts and crafts as you'll be making a beautiful dragonfly to take home.
