Do you need inspiration to turn your New Year's resolutions into reality?

Hertfordshire County Council has released a series of short films to encourage people to make the most of their New Year aspirations to develop a healthier lifestyle.

The films, which are available on the council's website and social media channels, feature Bibi, who is controlling Type 2 diabetes by improving her diet and lifestyle; Martin, who went from not being able to run very far to tackling a 5k Park run course every Saturday morning; and Barbara, who has lost three per cent of her body weight in 12 weeks by following a weight management programme.

Hertfordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Public Health, Tim Hutchings, said: "We know that people's own stories and personal struggles are a real inspiration to those of us stuck in a bit of a health rut.

"We have taken this opportunity to capture and share some of these stories, in the hope that it will show just what's possible with a bit of support and self-motivation, and help others take steps to improve their health too.

"I take my hat off to the achievements of our case studies, as well as everyone else out there who has made positive lifestyle changes and is feeling the physical and mental health benefits as a result."
